Juki HZL-903
Fancypants hoodlum
This bad girl had many twin sisters under many brand names, models, and face plate designs. A template that served generations to come in countless iterations, she went around the world and should be familiar to thousands (milions?) of families.
Suki can perform acrobatic stitches via cams inserted through a rotating door latch in the front. A cam should always be inserted, as this was necessary even for basic zigzag.
Interesting to see am oversize industrial-like reverse handle, reminiscent of the machine’s industrial roots. This one was ready to take on some serious abuse.
This version features a covered “internal” motor and is mounted on a plastic portable base, with dedicated transport cover.

The power plug was broken to bits, so it was reconstructed with epoxy to avoid fire hazards. The existing pieces were used to reconstruct the threads and mold a new shell over the old one, keeping the original pieces inside.
She arrived carrying a fair amount of fauna and debris from long term storage in non-ideal conditions. Note the metal extension arm below the base, which extends backwards to provide increased stability when operating the machine.
